STORY:

The concept of Simplethings evolved from Andy Paxson and Ryan Handel’s’ love for America’s Favorite desert; the pie. Being no stranger to the food service industry, Paxon and Ryan both hailed from Downtown Los Angeles’s Daily Grill where they have been managing for years. Along with fiend and chef, Carrie Cusack, whose pies at the time were featured in Food & Wine magazine’s “best in the country”, they decided they wanted to start a bakery on the famous 3rd street known next to shopping for its food  delicacies at places like A.O.C. (also by Randall-Baylon Architects) and Joan’s on Third.
